American Friends of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine (AFEM) is a US registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving access to high-quality emergency care throughout Africa.

1 in 2 deaths in low- and middle-income countries are due to causes treatable by Emergency Care, yet many countries have no hospitals with emergency departments, and most healthcare providers have received no specialized training in Emergency Care. Although emergencies happen everywhere in the world, death and disability from these emergencies occur disproportionately in low- and middle-income countries.

American Friends of AFEM aims to address this inequity by supporting organizations dedicated to strengthening emergency care systems in Africa.
